I had a look to this forum...I'm sure I'll find here all the information I need (I hope so.. )
I'll be travelling on the transiberian route from Moscow to Vladivostok in August. My travel plan is as follows:
07/08/2006 Moscow-Ekaterinburg, train 016
10/08/2006 Ekaterinburg-Krasnoyarsk, train 056 or 002
13/08/2006 Krasnoyarsk-Irkutsk, train 044
20/08/2006 Irkutsk-Khabarovsk, train 044
24/08/2006 Khabarovsk-Vladivostok, train 006
I made some simulations on the russian railways website, in order to have an idea about prices, and I found availability only for trains 016 and 044. So I asked a travel agency in Moscow why the trains 044, 002 and 056 don't show any availability and they replied these trains are not direct, so you can book a ticket not earlier than 1-2 days before departure, and no guarantee of available seats (for direct trains you can book 45 days before). So, I will be able to buy tickets in Moscow before leaving only for trains 016 and 006; for the others, I will have to ask station by station, without any guarantee of availability of seats...that's terrible!
So I'm kindly asking you, skilled on transiberian trips, how can a traveller arrange a trip stopping along the route. I wouldn't like to get bogged down in some siberian rail stations... I would like to have all my tickets before leaving Moscow. Isn't there any way to get them?

Why don't you try http://trains.waytorussia.net
It has prices for Moscow - Vladivostok (the railway's net prices). When you buy from an agency, expect to pay $5 - $30 fee on top, because Russian Railways don't pay any commissions. |
