I am taking the Trans-Mongolian on May 2nd from Moscow to Beihing with no stopovers. My boyfriend and I wanted our own compartment, but first class tickets "never went on sale". I tried to buy my tickets through about 3 companies and they all said the same thing (Express to Russia, Szevhy Veter and Nordic Travel).
We are now trying to buy 4 2nd class tickets, but we are having problems getting prices quoted for those. Do you think these are sold out?
Can anyone explain why we couldn't get first class tickets? We tried getting them exactly 45 days before the train left, so I didn't think it would be a problem. We did all of our research and I had no idea what a pain this was going to be.

Trans-Siberian is a long railway Smile
And goes through many cities, and besides locals, there are quite many tourists. So that's why it's hard sometimes to book tickets for this destination.
