Hi guys, firstly this site rocks! I'm off to Russia this October for the first time and so many of my questions have been answered here. I've never been abroad apart from the French battlefields and Amsterdam, this is a big leap for me.
Anyway... I'm going to be there until the following June, teaching English in St Petersburg. My problem is, I'm on the pill, and I will have to be able to get hold of it in St Petersburg, because the doctor won't give out more than six months' supply at once. The nurse at the clinic said I can get my brand (Ovranette) over there, under a different name, in an English-speaking health clinic, but she didn't have the address. Can anyone help? I don't want to have to come off it when I'm there (I wil get BAD mood swings!). Any advice, on clinics or somewhere I could buy it, would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot! |

No worries. Birth control pills are an over-the-counter med in Russia, no prescription required.
By and large they are much cheaper than in the west as well, around $10 a packet. Just be sure you know the approximate hormone levels in the ones you're currently taking so that you can match them here. |

Cool, thanks, sounds like they won't be too much hassle to get.
But cheaper?! In England I get them free... hmm, will be annoying having to pay for them. The nurse at the clinic I get them at didn't say I'd have to pay, ah well, guess you can't have everything! Think I just got the impression there'd be somewhere English-speaking people could go to get them, same way as here. |

There a a couple of international clinics in the centre of StP where you will find english speakers but you will also pay throgh the nose.
Better to take the advice above. |
