My friend is planning on going to meet a girl in Taganrod which is way down in the "bad" areas. The safety thing in Russia is a bit concerning. He is going to visit Rostov and then is going to Taganrod. Does anyone have any first hand experience of safety or knowing of anything like this happening in this particular region?

Taganrod is not far from Rostov on Don and is some distance from Chechnya. It is a seaport located on the Sea of Azov. I have visited the city and did not consider that I was in danger.

be careful sending your email address out like that: spammers harvest them by simply copy-pasting anything containing a 'sobaka' (@-sign) from a pages source-code. using your email address as user name means that it's up for grabs now....
