Hello,

I have just applied for a 90-day business visa in India and the visa officer said that I am required to produce an HIV test as part of the application.

By the way, the Russian embassy website in India http://www.india.mid.ru/3e.html

has posted the following regulation "Travellers (including applicants for a multiple entry visa) planning to stay in Russia for period of more than 90 days must attach a copy of an HIV test certificate to their application papers."

When I brought this to his attention, he said that the website info is incorrect and he will request the ministry to update its website. According to him, the new policy is that for a stay over 60 days, an HIV test is required.
I will get a test done this afternoon so it is not a big deal. But can anyone verify this change of policy for me, if possible?

Hello folks,

Just want to post a follow up to my previous post:

Indeed there is a notice on the consulate bulletin board which states that an HIV test is required for a stay over 60 days. I guess what this means is that the Russian Ministry websites of Hong Kong, Bangkok and India need to be updated as they mis-guidedly state that the test is required for a stay overy 90 days.

Further, the consulate processed my visa in 30 minutes on the same day (for an express service fee) as my visa invitation letter arrived 1 day prior to departure date.
