Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone recommend any good Russian history books? For the past year I've taken on a real interest in Russian history and culture (I'm currently taking Russian) and would like to pursue educating myself about Russia. Any recommendations would be really greatly appreciated! Thanks! Very Happy

May sound like a trite idea - but go to amazon.com/books (or the canadian amazon site amazon.ca) and search for russian history and look at reader's reviews.

Yes, well, unfortunately I have tried that and found that most books on this topic lack decent reviews, if any. Besides, Amazon isn't the only distributor of such books and I thought that perhaps many people on this forum shared the same interest in Russian history and therefore may know of one or two that particularily blew them away. Thanks anyway though. Confused

Natasha's dance is a cultural history of Russia, it is an excellent book! Also you can buy the History channels dvd's of Russia, I think it is called Russia, Land of the tsars, it is also excellent! I would also suggest if you really want to get further details of the history of russia you should buy a book called, A history of Ukraine, most people dont know it but the first capital of Russia was Kiev, then it was called Kievian Rus! Russia was know as the Land of the Rus before it became Russia!

Thank you very much! I'll be sure to check those out. Natasha's dance sounds like an interesting read... I didn't think of checking out DVDs. Thanks again!
