I am wondering about the conditions of the different classes on the Trans-Sib trains. Mainly, How many in a compartment in 1st and 2nd; is 2nd class couchettes or flat beds. Also, are there dining or bar cars.
What are the temps in October? |

Ifa,
If you want something definitive, read Bryn Thomas' Trans-Siberian Handbook, Or look on this site or go to the Trans-sib website.
But in a nutshell (all care but no responsibilty)...
Restaurant Car on most.
1st Class, generally 2 bunks, table under the window. "Lux" class
2nd Class, generally 4 bunks, table under the window. "Kupe" class
3rd Class, 6 or more..."Plaskartny" class.
Then you have the "grade" of train you are taking. You can go from Moscow to Irkustk/Ulan Ude/Chita and Vladivostok on trains other than the "Rossiya". Time is the big difference between the grades and the number of stops.
