Hello,
My friend and I are travelling on the Trans-siberian and will be stopping off at Lake Baikal in late June/Early July. I personally want to spend as much time at Lake Baikal as possible, but I'm not sure how long my friend will be interested in. I want to visit Listvyanka, but also Gremyachinsk, Goryachinsk, the Snake Bay area, Ulan Ude and if possible Olkhon Island too, and I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of boats were available directly across the lake, i.e. I hear there is one from Snake Bay to Olkhon Island. Are there any from Lisvyanka to the Eastern shore? And would I have to book these boats in advance? If so how?! I was hoping to get fully involved with how people live at Baikal so we were interested in staying with locals. Is this only possible pre-arranged, or will people be willing to take us up on arrival? If anyone has any advice on any practicalities then it would be deeeply appreciated.

Oh yeah! Also, is there any way of travelling directly from Listvyanka to Olkhon Island, by boat or car? And how long would this take?
