|

Hi
I'm a first time traveller to Russia. I'm planning my journey starting from Vladivostok and end in St. Petersburg. I'm living in New Zealand and planning on flying to Vladivostok.
My trips still about 6 months away (End of October) but I thought I could start searching for tickets and see what's available for the following legs.
1. Vladivostok-Irkustsk(stop over 3 days)
2. Irkutsk-Moscow(stop over 3 days)
3. Moscow-St Petersburg (3 days)
On the search engine on WaytoRussia website, I've managed to find prices for the last two train tickets but couldn't find prices for the first leg.
It seems like #1 Rossiya train is the only train which leaves Vladivostok that I can travel to Irkutsk but the price is not available. But when I search for the single leg journey from Vladivostok to Moscow the price was available for the same train (#1 Rossiya).
Where can I purchase ticket for Vladivostok-Irkutsk and how much would it be?
Also I've read a post from this forum that says about how you can only purchase tickets for trains leaving Irkutsk only in Irkutsk. Is it still the case?
If I purchase tickets through WaytoRussia, can I get the tickets mailed to NZ or do I need to pick them up somewhere in Vladivostok?
Many Thanks[/b] |

Have you looked at the seat61 website? It's a useful train resource, with links to more.

| Have you also tried sundowners? I am in Oz and they took all the hastle out of booking the trip from Vlad to Moscow with stopovers in Irkutsk, Olkhon Is and Tomsk. Cost a little bit more but worth the money! |

Thanks.
I have looked at Vodkatrain as an option (also run by Sundowners), but i thought $4000 for 15-16day package was a bit high considering it doesn't include food or admission fees. I want to see if I could spend around $2500 for the same itinerary by organising the trip myself. |
