I would try 12 months in Moscow. If you can deal with the energy sapping pollution, ridiculous prices and rush hour metro madness. Then maybe think about staying for life. I love Moscow, but for most expats its a one or two year stay before heading home.

No, as none of your parents were russian citizens then, you have no special rights to obtain russian citizenship other than any other foreigner.

Hi all, I was born in the Soviet Union (Moscow) while my parents studied there. I returned to my home country when I was less than 3 years old. Can I still apply for the Russian citizenship? If so, what is the procedure I should follow. I am not in Russia right now.
Best,
LRV

Hi everyone,

This is my first time on this site and it looks very interesting.

My father and mother were both born in Russia in 1908 and 1919 and are deceased. I was born in Germany in 1951 and I came to the USA when I was 5 years old. I have been a US citizen for about 30 years and I live in the US. I speak enough Russian to get by and I plan to visit my parents' birthpace next year. My question is: How difficult would it be for me to get Russian citizenship?
