Well, well, well..three holes in the ground!
My wife is also from Krasnoyarsk. We did the "correct" thing and got private visa's so I never had to bother too much with registration, although the OVIR office location changed every time . The other pain is the expense of getting the original invitation over to you. DHL/UPS really bend you over and drop your pants....
How long per visit? Less than a month - get a tourist visa or somesuch. Book a night in one of the hotels, registration taken care of...then off to girlfriends. I'm assuming she has a flat...
Quickest way by air there is USA->Beijing->Krasnoyarsk using Krasair. Next is USA->Seoul->Novisibirsk using Sibir and overnight train to the Big K.

hi,
just a short word : be careful, Krasair is going bankrupted, don't buy tickets from them anymore! A lot of their flights will be done by Transaero. |

ok let me know usualsuspect.
I was in Russia last week and I saw some KrasAir planes at Domodedovo Airport, they seemed to be abandoned. Try to go to KrasAir website : www.krasair.ru, it automatically proceeds to www.airunion.ru. |

David,
My wife told me that the rello's report the situation is grim at Krasair. Her nephew hasn't been paid for two months (he's an aircraft maintenance egineer) and employees are getting a lot of hot air instead of wages. This sounds all too familiar of enterprises that fail or about to go down the gurgler in Russia.....

so it seems to be better to avoid KrasAir.
I found this on Wikipedia, maybe not the best information source but still some information : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KrasAir |
