Myself and two other are considering travelling from the UK to New york via asia. We want to do the trip by motor cycle. It looks possible on the map and if we get the timing right then we should be able to drive across siberia during the short summer.
Is it possible?
Will we get Visas?
Is it possible to get some kind of boat across the bearing straights? |

Sure, entirely possible. The cheapest and most economical way to do it is to ride across Russia to Vladivostok and then take the ferry to Japan. Then a flight to the US.
It will be exceptionally difficult to ride to the very eastern point of Siberia and then jaunt across the straight to Alaska. Visit www.horizonsunlimited.com for some great discussions on this topic.
Visas? No problem. Importing / Exporting a bike to Russia? Not super complicated, but more complicated than a visa. Read up on horizonsunlimited.com for more info.
