overlanding Russia - Kazakhstan - Russia - Mongolia

Hi,
We are two British Passport holders looking to overland in a British registered Land Rover from Estonia - Russia - Kazhakstan - Russia - Mongolia and then entering China.
We wanted to understand which visa we would require for this trip - since we're using our own vehicle I imagine it may not be as straight forward as it seems.
I understand the tourist visa lasts 1 month with 2 entries. Is it possible to extend this in case the trip takes longer (breakdowns etc.) in which case how long can it last and how do we arrange the invitation?
Is there any additional documentation we have to complete or provide for the vehicle?
Any information for the Kazhakstan and Mongolian visas would also be appreciated.
