My passport expires on 04/04/2017 and I plan to travel in Russia early September 2016- 6 month validity an issue?

Hi there,

As mentioned above, my passport will expire on 04/04/2017. I would like to travel in Russia this year, entering in late August and leaving in early/mid September, leaving on 9th September 2016 at the latest.

I read that when applying for a visa the passport needs to be valid for 6 months after the visa expiry. Obviously, if measured from the date of me leaving Russia (9th September) then there is no problem, as 6 months later is March 2016. But if the Visa expiry date is for some reason much later than my leaving date, then that could create problems. Please can you advice whether this is likely to be the case with the visa expiry date?

Thanks

Tim

Just apply for a visa which takes the expiry of your passport into consideration (e.g. tourist visa for 30 days)
