applied for a visa-mentioned my relative's name as a host. can i re-apply for a tourist visa because it's easier to get?

US citizen. applied for a visa online and mentioned my relative's name as  a host then realized the trouble my host has to go through. now, i want to simply get a tourist visa from a travel agency like waystorusia.com BUT what should i do about the application i already submitted and got an interview date for(8/27/15)? can i "change my mind" and apply through the agency instead of calling my relatives and asking them to go/get/send?
