I will be travelling to Siberia, landing in Barbaul on 12th of August. I am looking for a driver/ guide for transport to Tunguir village via Gorny Altai. There will be four persons in the group and our plan is to climb Mt. Belukha.

How to find good hikes in Russian Altai?

HI everyone,
I am a french student who's been staying in novosibirsk for about 4 month now. Soon I will have a 3 weeks vacation before the end of my visa and I would like to spend a few days (up to a week) in Altai, hiking.
Now I am a quite experienced mountain hiker so I am aware of all the safety issues and precautions ( which I research).
My problem at the moment is I can't really find good hikes to undertake on the internet. Bearing in mind, I am only researching english written website as my russian is still very limited.
So the question is : How can I find good hike tracks and maps so i can go backpacking for a few days in altai this summer? Or can you advise some to me ?
Anyway, I would welcome any advice!

How can I get from Ulaanbaatar to Barnual via the Altai mountains?

My boyfriend and I are doing things a bit backwards - we are taking the trans siberian railway, ending in Ulan Bator. Then we want to make our way over to Tavan Bogd national park in Mongolia, then into the Russian Altay, eventually flying home from Barnaul. We have 13 days to get from Ulan Bator to Barnaul. Can you recommend a route or offer any advice on how we could go about this?
