Russia has great theater traditions zealously kept by Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT) and most other "traditional" theaters.

Only a handful of venues are dedicated to contemporary art, dance, and performance. 

Among them are Fabrika performance and contemporary dance center, Praktika theater, Teatr.Doc.
 
DOM is a great venue for live experimental music, which sometimes also hosts music performances.
